CS inaugurates SOC to strengthen cyber security framework across J&K | KNO

Jammu, Apr 30 (KNO): Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo today inaugurated the Jammu and Kashmir Security Operations Centre (JK SOC), marking a significant step towards strengthening the Union Territory’s cyber security infrastructure. Additional Chief Secretary, (Financial Commissioner) Revenue, Shaleen Kabra; Principal Secretary, Home, Chandraker Bharti; Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Ramesh Kumar; Secretary, IT Department, Dr. Piyush Singla; Director General, National Informatics Centre, VTV Ramana; CEO, Jammu and Kashmir e-Governance Agency, Mahima Madan; and SIO, NIC J&K, J. S. Modi were present on the occasion. The JK SOC has been established to enhance the cyber security framework of the UT administration. It will provide round-the-clock monitoring, threat detection, and incident response capabilities to safeguard critical government digital infrastructure and sensitive data from cyber threats. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Secretary emphasized that with the rapid digitization of government services, ensuring robust cyber security has become imperative. He further observed that the SOC will serve as the nerve centre for securing the Union Territory’s digital assets and ensuring the safe and seamless delivery of e-governance services to citizens here. The centre is equipped with advanced tools for real-time threat intelligence, vulnerability assessment, and security analytics. It will also coordinate closely with national agencies, including CERT-In, for effective cyber incident management. Senior Director, NIC, Anil Kumar Sharma delivered a detailed presentation on the functioning and capabilities of the JK SOC.
